Another Cpap!

Just Born, Holding Daddies Finger!

Levi

Wow, its been a while since I posted to this blog. So much has happened. My son (still strange to say) was born at 25 weeks, on January 6, weighing 1lb 9.5oz, and was 13.3 inches long. He is doing very well all things considering, but we've had some major bumps in the road. He has been living in the NICU for 4 weeks, and the stay will probably continue until his expected due date of April 18, 2012. Since his birth, he has been intabated with a tube to help him breathe, then put on CPAP, another breathing machine, and on a nasal cannula, then back to a CPAP.

At the moment we are dealing with a very crucial problem. The breathing machines are causing too much air to go into his lungs and so air is being trapped in his belly. His belly is extremely swollen, and can cause many major problems if too much air is forced into the belly. The doctor is very concerned, but as of today it seems that maybe just maybe the new tube that they used is working.

The goal is to get him to at least 4lbs, breathing on his own, maintaining his body temp, and eating from a bottle, or nursing, before he gets to come home. He currently lives in an isolate which helps to keep him at a specific temperature. Anytime anyone wants to visit him, they must be with mom or dad, and wash from fingertips to elbows.

I know that no matter what, Levi is in the best hands he can be in. I've taken a ton of photo's that I will upload as soon as I am able. Thank you everyone for your support!
